| Remember back in May of 2004 when Hollywood came to town to film ‘Constellation’? I had forgotten also, but the latest buzz is for a fall release with the premiere happening right here in Huntsville, sometime late October or early November.
Directed and produced by Jordan Walker-Pearlman, ‘Constellation’ is the story of a black family in the South as it comes to terms with a past marked by an interracial affair. It stars Billy Dee Williams, Gabrielle Union, Zoe Saldana, Lesley Ann Warren, Rae Dawn Chong and Hill Harper. It was shot entirely on location in Huntsville and financed by local backers. |
 |
The movie took about a month to film in May 2004 at sites such as Big Spring International Park, The Ledges, the Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville International Airport and Humphrey’s. It used about 800 extras and gave four local kids – Eric Monique Coleman, Chandler Horkman, Kathleen Arthur and Tre Rogers – credited roles.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available and mark you calendars. What fun it will be to see Huntsville on the big screen!

No one knows better than the victims of Hurricane Katrina that we all need to read the fine print on our homeowner insurance policies. Damage due to floods is one of the typical items not covered by homeowners insurance. Separate flood insurance coverage must be obtained through the National Flood Insurance Program (www.FEMA.gov).
Other issues Huntsville home owners need to be aware of:
1. Flood. Many policies also exclude damage caused by surface waters or water blown by wind storms.
2. Mold. Each insurer is different on this one.
3. Dogs. Many policies exclude coverage of certain breeds of dogs such as, Presa Canarios, pit bulls, Dobermans and wolf breeds.
4. Replacement cost. To be reimbursed for actual replacement cost and not prorated cost of the damage requires special wording in your policy…and more money. But with construction costs rising rapidly, it can very well be worth the investment.
It is a good idea to review your policy with your insurance agent to determine you have the coverage you think your have. This could save you a lot of heartache when it really counts.

Yesterday’s foiled terror plot in London was a grim reminder that there are fanatics out there who want to inflict major harm on innocent people. The good news is intelligence agencies were on top of the situation and could thwart the plot before it actually occurred. Bravo!!
Now, we deal with the realities of increased security at airports. Tightened security is not fun…either for the workers or the travelers, but is necessary. What will make it all more bearable is patience with the system and the folks who are trying to administer it, as well as, preparation.
Life at airport check-in will be easier if we call come prepared. New security measures require:
* No liquids of any kind in carry-on luggage. Put it in your checked bags. This includes packages of condiments for the sandwich you just bought in the airport.
* You may carry on prescription drugs and baby formula. Have a copy of your prescription and make sure the names match!
* For domestic flights, arrive 3 hours ahead of time and 4 hours ahead for international flights.
And most of all arrive with a smile and a sense of humor. You’ll be amazed at how much easier the whole process is.
Make it a great day and keep safe!!
