The Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey showed a drop in interest rates this week fueled by a moderation in inflation.

This week’s interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.17 compared to last week’s 6.22. The rate drop is the first in six weeks. It is also icing on the cake for Huntsville home buyers. Spring is prime buying season. Now is when the greatest number of homes are available. To have a large inventory to choose from and lower rates is a bonus for buyers.

The Madison County School Board, in a less than unanimous vote, is seeking a sales tax increase from the Madison County Commission for new schools and renovations, including construction of an International Baccalaureate School in northwest Huntsville that would offer an advanced curriculum for K-8 students.  Full story…
