This year marks the 32nd year for the festival. The American Business Association considers the WC Handy Music Festival a Top 10 2013 Event.

Handy also has a connection to Huntsville, AL! He taught music and was the band director at Alabama A&M in the early 1900′s.

Live bands perform at area restaurants, clubs, parks, churches, retail stores, and other places that may host Handy lunches, dinners, late nights or anything in between. It also consists of events during which an appreciation of music is taught such as ABC’s of Jazz, or the Music Spelling Bee and visits to local libraries and museums. The Festival highlights the rich musical heritage of the Shoals area.

This year’s festival starts on Saturday, July 13 and runs through Sunday, July 28. Get a schedule of events here. The majority of the events cost $10.00 or less and many are free, making it a great family outing.
